100% Merino Wool (French Arles merino and Portuguese black merino)

Gilliatt is a wool yarn made from a blend of white French Mérinos d'Arles wool (Provence) and black Portuguese wool (Alentejo valley), raised with respect for animal welfare and the enhancement of their wool.

All stages of production of this yarn take place in a short supply chain (France and Portugal for sourcing, Belgium or Italy for washing, France for spinning and dyeing) with constant attention to traceability and reducing environmental impact.

It is available in natural colors, obtained by blending brown and white fleeces ("sel" (salt), "poivre blanc" (white pepper), "poivre et sel" (pepper and salt), and "poivre" (pepper)), and in a range of delicately heathered and fleece-dyed shades.

Composed of three well-twisted plies, it is a round, soft, and fluffy yarn, perfect for making practically anything, from expanses of stockinette stitch to patterns with intricate cables.

It is a yarn that easily tolerates irregularities, does not split, and stays firmly on the needles, making it a great choice even for beginners.

100 gram skein and 250 meters.

It is recommended to work with 4 - 5 mm needles and crochet hooks.

Gauge: 19 stitches and 27 rows with 4 mm needles / 18 stitches and 26 rows with 4.5 mm needles / 17 stitches and 25 rows with 5 mm needles.

This yarn is not Superwash treated. We recommend washing the knitted fabric in lukewarm water with soap or a suitable detergent and letting it dry flat, avoiding rubbing or ironing. If you wish to test your washing machine's wool program, we recommend doing so first with a swatch.

Please note that very dark or particularly saturated colors such as "emerald" are more likely to bleed during blocking. If you plan to knit with lighter colors, we recommend testing a swatch first. If you notice excess color in the first wash, we recommend repeating the rinse until it runs clear before drying your work.
