A Knitting Life – Out into the World is the second of three books in which Marianne Isager tells the story of her life as a knitter through five decades.

It was only in the 1990s that Marianne Isager truly began to explore the world. In this book, we follow Marianne on her journeys to Latin America, Africa, Greenland, and Nepal. 

On these trips, doors open to an abundance of inspiration. Not only the patterns of fabrics, baskets, and ceramics, but also the architecture, landscapes, and all those wonders that fill the mind and soul when visiting a new place for the first time and experiencing the traditions, food, people, and history of the country that seep deep into the body. 

As in the first book, some of her earlier and most significant projects are presented, many of which reflected the fashion of the time. 

This book also contains 16 new patterns with knitting instructions, inspired by her travels, which combine craftsmanship and high-quality yarns.

In these years full of travel, Marianne's hometown, Tversted, in northern Denmark, remains the focal point of her life. Tversted is also the home of the Isager yarn company, owned and run by Marianne Isager and her daughter Helga Isager.
